Most dance studios keep you a beginner forever.
The M is built to make you a real dancer, from your very first step to the competition floor. Your first class is free.
No card. No commitment.
The hobby-mill trap
Most studios are built to keep you comfortable, not to make you good.
Walk into the average studio and here is the deal you never see. The class resets every week so nobody actually advances. The syllabus is whatever the teacher improvised that night. You stay a paying beginner, and everyone is fine with that except you.
Sound familiar?
A year in, and nothing has changed.
Same basic step. You still freeze when a real dancer asks you onto the floor. You still sit out at the wedding, the social, the night you wanted this for in the first place. The steps were never the problem. The studio was.
See the floor
This is what real progress looks like.
Kids and adults, same real club
Newcomer classes every night for both. Everyone starts at zero and actually moves.
Your first class is free
No card, no commitment. Come dance one night and see the difference for yourself.
A path to the competition floor
Newcomer to Bronze, Silver, Gold, and onto the floor. A ladder you climb, not a loop you pay for.

Class in motion
The M way
The M is built like a real club
Every part of it is designed to move you forward, on purpose.
A real syllabus you finish
Hundreds of figures, coach sign-offs, and term exams. You always know exactly where you stand and what comes next.
A 6-week cycle that builds
Classes advance instead of resetting. You join, you climb, you never repeat week one forever.
Coaches who compete
You learn from people who actually dance at the level you are chasing, not someone one page ahead in the book.
A clear path to the floor
Newcomer to Bronze, Silver, Gold, and onto the competitive floor. A ladder, not a loop.
And none of the usual excuses apply:
No partner needed
Come solo. We rotate in class and pair you up. Dance your whole journey without ever bringing one.
No experience needed
Every night has a Newcomer class built for people walking in cold. Everyone starts at zero.
No contracts, ever
Pay by the week, freeze when life gets busy, cancel anytime. No packages, no pressure.
The coach behind The M
Learn from a competitor, not a hobbyist.
The M was founded by a competitive dancer who got tired of watching studios keep people small. You are taught by someone who has actually done it, and who is building the studio they always wished existed.

Your teacher actually gets paid here
Most studios
$7 to $30
per lesson to the teacher
The studio keeps the rest of what you pay. The person teaching you, often the reason you came, sees the smallest slice.
At The M
Up to 100%
of the lesson rate to the teacher
Your lesson fee goes to your teacher. Membership exists to sustain the studio, the floor, and the program, not to mark up the people who teach.
We think that is the honest way to run a studio: pay the artists who do the work, and let the community fund the space. When teachers are paid well, they stay, they grow, and you get better.

Getting started
Is the first class really free?
Yes. Your first group class is on us, with no card required. Just show up to any night's class. After that, adding a card on file unlocks classes, private lessons, and events.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. Every night has a Newcomer class built for people walking in cold, and our 6-week cycles are designed so you can start at the beginning of a fresh stretch within days.
What should I wear to my first class?
Comfortable clothes you can move in and clean-soled shoes. You don't need dance shoes to start. We'll point you the right way once you're hooked.
Do I need a partner?
No. Many dancers come solo and dance with the instructor or rotate in class. You can dance your whole journey without ever bringing a partner.
How do I sign up?
Tap "Start with a free class," create your account, and you're in. You can browse the schedule and book before adding any payment details.
Money and membership
What does membership cost?
$195 a month, billed weekly at $47, with every group class included and reduced private-lesson rates. Each additional dancer in the family is just $25/week, the price of a single class drop-in.
What if I'm not a member?
No problem. A la carte has no subscription: group-class drop-ins are $25, and private lessons are $100 for 30 minutes or $150 for 45 minutes.
How does billing actually work?
Everything you book, lessons and drop-ins, accrues to one weekly tab that's charged automatically every Monday along with your membership. No surprise invoices.
Can I pay without a card on file?
Yes. You can switch to self-pay and keep a prepaid balance that we draw your weekly tab from, so a card on file isn't required for that path.
Can I freeze my membership if I travel?
Yes. You can freeze membership for 1 to 12 weeks from your billing page. Dues pause while you're away and pick back up automatically when the freeze ends.
Are there any contracts?
No. You pay by the week, you can freeze when life gets busy, and you can cancel anytime. No packages, no long-term commitment.
Do I save money as a member?
Usually a lot. Members pay $70/$95 for private lessons instead of $100/$150, and every group class is included instead of $25 a drop-in. Your billing statement shows exactly what you saved.
Lessons and schedule
How does the 6-week cycle work?
Each style runs a rolling 6-week cycle that builds on itself, then starts over. The teacher keeps developing the material through the cycle, so the group never resets mid-stream. Each night of the week is at a different point in its own cycle.
When is the best week to start?
Almost always this week. Because every night is at a different cycle point, there's nearly always a class in its early, foundational weeks (1 to 3) that's easy to pick up cold. Waiting doesn't get you a better spot.
What styles do you teach?
International Standard and Latin, American Smooth and Rhythm, plus Country, one style a night. Friday is a social party, and Saturday rounds out the week.
What's the class schedule each night?
Each night runs a Newcomer class 7:00 to 7:40, an upper-level class 7:45 to 8:25, then open practice 8:30 to 9:00.
How do I book a private lesson?
Pick a coach and an open time right in the app. If nothing fits, you can request a specific time and the studio will confirm one that works.
Can I reschedule a lesson?
Yes, a private lesson can be moved once, up to 12 hours before it starts. Inside that window, give the studio a call.
Can I dance with a partner from another family?
Yes. You can pair with a partner from another family through an invite, and the lesson fee splits evenly between the two families.
Do you offer competitions?
Yes. The M is a dancesport club, so we prepare dancers for the competitive floor, from your first Newcomer heat up through the levels, with coaches who compete themselves. Competing is always optional, never required.
How do levels and exams work?
You climb Newcomer to Bronze, Silver, and Gold. We track your mastery across the full syllabus, and when you're proficient on enough figures you become exam-eligible. Exams run in a few windows through the year.
Youth and safety
What ages do you teach?
Kids, teens, and adults, from young beginners through competitive dancers. Every night has a Newcomer class, so a child or an adult can start from zero on the same night.
Is The M a good fit for kids?
Yes. Youth dancesport is at the heart of the club. Kids follow the same real syllabus with coach sign-offs and a clear path, and families can enroll more than one dancer at a reduced rate per additional child.
How do you keep young dancers safe online?
Youth accounts are protected by design. Across families, dancers only ever see a first name and last initial, purchases and rewards are earn-only for minors so nothing is spendable real money, and we never text a minor without a parent's consent on file.
Can a parent and child both dance?
Absolutely, and many do. A family membership covers everyone, with each additional dancer at just the price of a single drop-in, so parents and kids can train side by side.
Are socials and parties included?
Members get our weekly social party and studio events as part of membership, the best low-pressure way to put class into practice, for the whole family.
